Twitter is the perfect antidote for the work at home blues

Working at home is a dream for many women, but sometimes the reality can be much different than the fantasy. Once the novelty wears off, you might just find out that you really miss the daily coffee break with your friends at the office. It can be especially hard for extroverts who draw energy through their social interactions with other people.

Many women combat the work at home blues by joining a business networking group or participating in a telephone mastermind group. But since these groups may only meet one day a week or even one day a month, the feelings of isolation and loneliness may creep in anyway.

So what's a lonely home working entrepreneur to do?  One simple solution is to start using Twitter. This popular, free micro blogging tool is used daily by work at home moms and others to communicate, connect, and share resources with other people who share their interests and passion for business.

You can use Twitter as much or as little as you like, it's up to you. And the really wonderful thing is that Twitter is always there for you whenever you need a lift, want to share a success, or just ask for advice.

As anyone who reads the Moms in Business blog on a regular basis knows, I am a passionate fan of Twitter and highly recommend it to other entrepreneurs for inspiration, networking, research, and business promotion.

So the next time the walls are closing in at your home office or you just want a coffee break and a laugh, tune into Twitter and banish those home working blues fast.

Are Women Better New Media Marketers?

Istock_000003860264xsmall_4 Here's a link to an intriguing post by Deborah Micek (otherwise known as Coach Deb) on what it takes to be a successful new media marketer and why she believes that women have the advantage.

7 Characteristics of the Successful New Media Marketer–Part 1: Trustworthy

The best tip Deb gives is the following hint:

Quote: "Get a male/female partnership in business and you’ll have an even greater advantage by applying each person’s natural skills to the appropriate task needed in the company."

So what do you think?

Raising a Social Media Son?

Another interesting interview with a social media Dad from socialmediamom.com

Social Media Dad … Raising a Social Media Son?

"My son wants to start blogging. He’s 10 years old.

Should we let him?

That’s top of mind these days for this Social Media Dad (and my wife), who’s thrilled that his son knows what blogs are and wants to have his own, but also a little bit concerned about him becoming more of a Social Media Son than a Do-Well-In-School Son.

Not long ago, I was sitting on the couch in the family room, banging away on my laptop (no doubt writing a blog post, reading a blog post, or playing/working on Mixx, StumbleUpon, Sphinn, or maybe Yahoo! Answers), when my son said the magic words: “Dad, I want to do a blog.”

I stopped everything I was doing."

“Really?,” I said. “Why do you want to start a blog?” Because it looks fun, he said." more
