Outrageous Acts

Womansm_1 I once asked my readers the following question “What’s the most outrageous thing you’ve ever tried to build your MLM business, and did it succeed?” Several people responded, but Marlee Huber’s response really got my attention as it will yours. Here’s what could happen in your business if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and take a risk!

“Linda...I can't help but respond to your quest for outrageous actions. Here's mine!

We were the proud possessors of some frequent flier tickets when we got this harebrained idea. With our tickets we flew to a distant city where we participated in a large business briefing, then rented a motor home and drove 600 miles south to a state we had never visited to meet a handful of so-so distributors that we'd never laid eyes on.

The leader of this group had been active, that is until they bought a new home and discovered termites. You can only imagine who got the attention then. We did do one thing before we left home, however. We placed a classified ad in the paper for the city where we were going and told the callers we would invite them to a meeting, time and place yet undetermined when we arrived. When we arrived at our new distributor's home about four in the afternoon, we told her about the ad and said the respondents from the newspaper would be at her house by 7 PM.

Amazingly, she agreed. When her husband arrived home from work, he looked us over from head to toe and disappeared. At seven, three of the most unusual couples you'd ever want not to join your business appeared at the door. Their demeanor let us know that some of these spouses came under duress. Nevertheless, the meeting went smoothly. The three couples disappeared and never did anything--thank goodness, I can only imagine what types they would have drug into our business--and our new distributor remained constant that she really didn't care to get further involved with this business.

The whole scenario looked bleak. The good news is we remained in contact with this consultant and a short time later she told her husband, “I want to do this business, and I think I can be good.” Good isn’t the word for her. They are soon to become Diamond Directors and generally pull in the top unit volume in the nation monthly. I say “They” because her physician husband is very much involved in this business and tells his doctor buddies, “This is the best retirement program you can get.” Get me another motor home and let's hit the road, honey!!

Actually, I can’t believe we really did this--we’re both usually so shy! About my outrageous act--I only wish I had the courage to do it more often. That act has produced about 90% of my organization to date. And it’s spreading all over North America.” - Marlee Huber

I hope that you are inspired by Marlee’s story and that it gives you the courage to step out of your comfort zone this week and take a risk too!

The Optimist Creed

Redflower_2 Be strong, that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

Make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

Think only of the best, to work for the best, and expect only the best.

Be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

Wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living thing a smile.

Give so much time to the improvements of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

Be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Remember Your Why . . .

Starting and building a business is never easy. There are all too many people who will tell you it can't be done. Friends and family will try to persuade you to give up this madness and get a good, steady job with a regular paycheck. Prospects will turn you down, recruits will abandon you at the first sign of work, and a tiny commission check will make you want to quit. Don't!

"But it's so hard," you say, "No one believes in what I'm trying to do, my friends and family think I'm crazy, I'm just not sure if I am up to it!"

When you have days like this - and you will -- the one thing that will sustain you and keep you going is your Why. In other words, the reason that you stepped out of the long line of people following the regular path and started your own business in the first place. Maybe it's because you want to stay home with your children, or that you want to finally get out of your dead-end job that pays you a pittance, or that you'd like to buy a home, or spend more time with your family, or to spend your day doing what you want to do. Whatever your Why is -- it's unique and special to you. Cherish it and honor it, because your Why is what will keep you going when all the obstacles seem stacked against you.

Succeeding in your own business is hard -- after all, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. It takes a lot of energy, drive and passion to make it through the tough times on the road to success. It's like you were a rocket that has to expend tons of jet fuel to break free of the earth's gravity. Your Why is your jet fuel that burns hot and bright within you. And once your orbit has been successfully achieved, you can look back and see that all the energy expended is worth it and your path is high and wide.

So, the next time you feel like you want to quit -- just remember your Why and stay the course.

Making the Leap to Full-Time

Woman_holding_money_be_15 If your goal is to go full-time in your MLM business by next year, here’s some things you can do to prepare yourself so you can make that dream into a reality.

Reduce your expenses over the next year.  If you have debts -- start a plan to start paying them off right now -- and don’t incur any new debt in the next year. Use this year when you have your salary AND the part-time income to clear the decks and get ready. You also may want to start building up your savings so you’ll have a fall back if you have a down month so you won’t have to worry about how you’ll pay your expenses.

Cultivate and find some real business builders in your MLM business -- and help them achieve their financial goals. Let them know what your plans are and find out what their financial business goals are for the coming year. This way you can use the synergy from all your goals to propel yourselves forward.

If you don’t belong to a local leads club or business networking club -- join one now. Start to get involved in the club and even volunteer for a leadership position. Networking is one of the best ways I know to increase your business and people that actively give referrals to other members will get referrals in return.

Even though you are still part-time -- treat your business as if it were a full-time business. Focus as much time as you can on  your business and don’t get involved with any extra outside activities that would interfere with your business goals.
